The following forms and calculations apply
only to above grade residential buildings with average infiltration. Unusual items,
such as hot tubs, greenhouses or glass areas over 40% of a wall, or indoor swimming pools
produce special demands, and are not addressed by this formula.
The heat gain calculates an indoor
temperature of 78° with a relative humidity of 55% for outdoor temperatures up to 93°.
For outdoor temperatures greater than 93°, it calculates a relative indoor humidity of
55% at a temperature 15° lower than the outdoor temperature. A 15° maximum
temperature difference is recommended for health reasons.
